In short
- A two-wheel tractor makes sense for a garden and field of roughly 1,000 m² (a quarter acre) up to 1–2 ha (2.5–5 acres); for less, hiring a contractor is cheaper.
- Buy a machine with a power take-off (PTO) and adjustable handlebars: then it runs the tiller, the mower and a pump.
- Reversing with the tiller engaged is the most dangerous moment: disengage the tiller before you walk backwards.
- A trailer on a downhill slope must have working brakes. Nobody rides on the trailer.
- Service by engine hours: oil, air filter and bolts. The service log is half the life of the machine.
