In short
- Hay always, ad lib, every day of the year. It is the base of the ration, not an extra.
- Pellets roughly 50–100 g a day (2–3½ oz) for an adult rabbit; a nursing doe and growing youngsters 150–250 g.
- Introduce every change of feed over 1–2 weeks. Fresh greens for youngsters after weaning only very carefully.
- Greens fresh or fully dried, never wilted in a heap; not from the roadside, not sprayed.
- Never silage, bread, potatoes, onions or feed for other species.
- Homestead plan: 180 kg of feed per doe a year (pellets and hay, plus grass and greens in summer); growers roughly 9 kg each and the buck 100 kg are counted separately.
