Chainsaw use and safety

In short

  • No chainsaw trousers, boots and helmet with visor, no starting the saw. No exceptions, not even for "just two cuts".
  • Kickback happens when the upper quarter of the bar nose touches wood. Never cut with that part.
  • Never alone: always two in the woods, a phone and a first aid kit with a tourniquet.
  • Leave trees thicker than the bar length, leaning, rotten or near the house and power lines to a professional.
  • A blunt chain is a dangerous chain: the saw bounces and you force it.
