In short
- Registering a holding is not the only register. Livestock, food premises and apiaries have their own records (H34-07, H64-07).
- Before you register, sort out the land papers: ownership, a tenancy or a written right to use the land (H01-02).
- Registration can bring duties: records, reporting changes, annual updates, tax and contributions. Ask before, not after.
- For a grant, the holding often has to be registered before the scheme deadline, sometimes a year earlier (H64-04).
- Ask your questions in writing and keep the answers. Check with the relevant authority where you live.
