In short
- Plan standard: 1 kg/m² of bed, roughly 9 m² per adult. A good bed gives more in its second year.
- A bed 1 m wide, 2 rows, 25–30 cm (10–12 in) apart in the row: 6–8 plants per m².
- The crown at soil level: neither buried nor with bare roots.
- A planting lasts 3–4 years. Plant a new bed every year and remove the oldest.
- Don't plant after potatoes, tomatoes, peppers or aubergines, nor where strawberries grew before.
- Straw or mulch under the fruit, frequent picking and good spacing protect the fruit from grey mould.
