In short
- Preserves cover roughly 30 weeks: from November to the end of May.
- Work backwards: jars a week × 30 weeks + 10 % reserve.
- The norm is 30–40 jars of 700 mL per adult equivalent (AE). The family of four in the example (3.1 AE) needs roughly 120 kg (265 lb) of vegetables and about 110 jars of various sizes.
- Spread the work over 8–12 working days from July to October, not two weekends.
- Count what's left in spring: it is the best data for next year's plan.
